We run non accredited and accredited courses for Volunteers and Organisations

All of these courses can be provided in house.

Volunteer Centre Liverpool is also working with Liverpool CVS on their Skills Development Programme facilitating workshops on aspects of volunteering including Volunteer Policies and Procedures, Recruitment and Supporting Volunteers.




Training for volunteers

Volunteering Introductory Programme (V.I.P.) 

Are you over 19 years of age and living in Liverpool? Thought about volunteering? Come along to the next Volunteering Introductory Programme (V.I.P.) on {dates to be announced - watch this space} here at 151 Dale Street  from 10am - 12.30pm (both sessions must be attended).
 
The V.I.P. programme is specifically designed for people like you. It will enable you to find a suitable volunteering placement and be ready to start volunteering with a voluntary/community organisation. You can also gain accreditation towards the new ASDAN Community Volunteering Qualification (Level 1)

All materials to complete the course are provided - this course is free to most people who live in Liverpool and are aged 19 or over

Preparing for Success in the Workplace

Not working at the moment?

Do you want to develop skills that could help you return to work?

If so, then this free course could be for you and provide you with a certificate of achievement.

What do I need to do to gain a certificate of achievement?

You will attend an introductory meeting followed by a series of six 3-hour sessions at Volunteer Centre Liverpool 151 Dale Street,L2 2AH.

The course dates are: Wednesdays 16th, 23rd, 30th June, 7th, 14th and 21st July with a choice of session times: either 9.30am – 12.30pm or 1.30pm – 4.30pm 

You will complete a number of short ‘activities’ that will help you:
•    Understand what is expected of people when they are at work
•    Recognise the skills and qualities that are important in the workplace
•    Identify the things you are good at that are valued by employers
•    Decide on the things that you need to work on and improve
•    Think about what you are going to do next

Support is provided throughout the course by the tutor.

All materials to complete the course are provided - this course is free to most people who live in Liverpool and are aged 19 or over.

Preparing to Volunteer

Want to do something different and have fun doing it?

Want to gain experience and skills to help you move into work or training?

You can help the local community and increase your confidence
 
Come along to our free three hour Preparing to Volunteer session at 151 Dale Street, Liverpool L2 2AH on (Date to be confirmed). The three hour session will begin at 10am and finish at 1pm.

Training for organisations

Volunteer Centre Liverpool provides training and short courses on all aspects of working with volunteers, including:

  • Recruitment and selection of volunteers
  • Dealing with difficult volunteer issues
  • Support and supervision
  • Communication and conflict
  • Improving your presentation skills
  • Recruitment and induction of trustees/committee members
  • Developing your volunteer policy
  • Active listening (basic counselling) skills
  • Legislation affecting the voluntary sector
  • Supporting volunteers with mental health problems
  • Promotion of equal opportunities
  • Involving refugees and asylum seekers

Accreditation & qualifications are also available

We offer the Managing Volunteers Award, accredited by Merseyside Open College Network (MOCN) and written specifically by and for people who work with volunteers. It is flexible, runs on a modular basis and uses real life examples and evidence from your workplace, rather than writing essays. We can also offer you the option to gain a nationally recognised qualification, the Advanced Award in Volunteer Management, which requires some additional coursework.

There are no exams for any courses - but lots of help and support!
